How About the Word 'Kind'?

Today, I'd like to have you consider some thoughts with me. In my previous posting, I spoke of being kind. And of course, you know that our mission is to spread 'care and kindness'. We seek to help people to do even better in giving care, but there is the second word, 'kind', that is also very important.

Jesus commanded us to 'love one another'. As I asked last time, does that REALLY mean EVERYONE? How can I do that? But my thoughts today are to guide you towards what is perhaps an easier concept to deal with: Can we be KIND to everyone? I think that is a project that I can work on with some hope of moving closer to that goal each day.

"Love one another" sounds pretty 'churchy', don't you think? Are those three words that don't come easily in your day-to-day world of contacts? In 1 Corinthians 13, we find the words reminding us that "love is kind." That means that to be kind is to give love. So perhaps the words to 'be kind to one another' are easier to say and to consider.

I see (to my great pleasure) more and more frequent things on the internet about being kind, doing acts of kindness, organizations that promote kindness. So let's go with that. Do you think that you can at least be kind to your enemy? Can you be kind to someone that you don't really like? As I said, I think that's something I can work on each day. Just remembering to be kind in all my daily activities and interaction with other people.

If LOVE is too big, are you more comfortable with KIND?

And surely you've heard a hundred times the admonition to be kind to everyone, because everyone is struggling with their burdens.
